Ti(C, N) based cermet with an average particle size less than 0.5 m is fabricated by using ultra-fine TiC 0.7 N 0.3 with average particle size less than 0.2 m. Cermets made up of ultra-fine TiC 0.7 N 0.3 powders have higher hardness and strength than those of conventional powders. In order to find o

β¦ Synopsis
Grain growth inhibitors like VC are added to WCβCo cermets to avoid abnormal grain growth during sintering. Though the effect of vanadium is known for a long time, the controlling mechanism remains to understand. Microstructural investigations carried out on industrial samples have permitted to locate precisely the inhibitor after sintering. These results are discussed in connection with WC grain growth mechanism.

Ni-Ti alloys show an important evolution in the stress-strain curve during pseudoelastic cycling. The transformation stress and the hysteresis width are notably reduced. To study the origin of this evolution, a Ni-Ti ribbon (50.9 at.% Ni) obtained by cold rolling and with a final straight annealing
The morphology and the interface features of WC grains are examined by SEM and TEM in cemented carbides WC-8 wt% Co. Three compositions --the mixture {WC ΓΎ Co binder} and the mixtures with graphite or h --are studied after treatments at 1200 and 1450 C. The effect of the C content is observed both o
## Abstract Subjecting a thin NiTi specimen to uniaxial tension often leads to a localized martensitic transformation: macroscopic transformation bands form and propagate through the specimen, separating it into regions of fully transformed martensite and original austenite. In the present study, t
