✦ Synopsis
Uranyl nitrate hexahydrate (UNH) dissolves in its own water of crystallization and forms a transparent glass when cooled rapidly to 80 K. Typical luminescence characteristics of UNH snap-frozen melt have been studied and a multipolar mechanism of energy transfer is suggested from a to j9 species.
