## Abstract Some new thirdβorder rotatable designs are obtained in 5, 6, 7 and 8 dimensions. Many of these designs are of a sequential type and some require fewer experiments than the known designs with minimal number of experiments.

Mininiization ofthe variance of the difference between estimated responses at two points maximized over pairs of points in the region of interest is taken as the design criterion. Optimal third-order designs are derived for spherical co-centric regions of experimentation and interest with some restr

In this paper the order of certain two-dimensional quadrature formulae is discussed and it is shown that their degree and order are not related in the same simple way as they are for one-dimensional rules.
