โฆ Synopsis
We consider the static behavior and maximum critical current I max รฐH ร for a given magnetic field H of a system of two point Josephson junctions separated by a distance 2a embedded in a rectangular microstrip of width w and show that the problem can be mapped onto an effective 1D situation with a rescaled width w w < w which depends on the geometrical parameters a, w and mis-alignment b of the junction pair. The analysis of the reduced equations reveals that I max is periodic of period p a and yields the amplitude of its variation with the magnetic field H . In particular it is proportional to a w when a < w and is reduced when the mis-alignment b is increased. Since the geometric parameters can be freely chosen in the fabrication process we suggest that experimentalists can design a device to suit specific needs.
