The electrodynamic properties of the long Josephson junction for the case of two-phase wave train are investigated by means of asymptotic solutions of the perturbed "sine-Gordon" equation in the form of the Whitham equations describing the modulation of its period matrix within the power balance approximation. The corresponding current-voltage characteristic is calculated in terms of Riemann 0-functions and analyzed numerically for the zero magnetic field. The resonance peaks of the characteristic are shown to correspond to the reduction condition for the period matrix.
