From the ether extract of the liverwort Porella acutifolia subsp, tosana, two new pinguisanetype and two novel Diels-AIder reaction-type dimeric pinguisane sesquiterpenoids have been isolated. Their absolute structures were determined by a combination of 2D-NMR and CD spectra, X-ray crystallographic analysis, modified Mosher's method, and chemical degradation.
