✦ Synopsis

I. Solutions of DPNH or TPNIK show a chemical relaxation as demonstrated by the temperature jump method, of o.6 and 0.2 msec respectively.

2. This relaxation time and the relative chemical jump height are independent of the concentration of the reduced pyridine nucleotides over the range lO-2OOO ~M.

3. It is concluded that the chemical relaxation is due to a monomolecular reaction originating from an equilibrium between two forms of the reduced pyridine nucleotides.
