A novel entry into 3-bromo-7-(bromomethyt)tetracyclo[5.3.1.02"6.04"S]undec~10(12)-ene-9,11-dione, which readily undergoes further rearrangement with primary amines, has been developed through photolysis of 2,5bis(bromomethyl)tricyelo[6.2.1.02"7]undec-4,9-diene-3,6-dione.
