SiteMinder 4.0's new features include virtual portal technology to manage E-commerce affiliate partners, the ability to manage the entire life cycle of portal users and new services for password administration.

It provides E-commerce sites with a platform for centralizing portal management and delivering a set of shared services for single sign-on and authentication management, entitlement management, distributed administration and affiliate services. Some of the new features also include the ability to set password expiration and disablement rules, manage password history data and set password length and format constraints.
