There are many image processing books out there. But what makes this book unique is providing profound knowledge about 2-D signal processing. Most of image processing books just contain fancy images and quick-n-dirty equations for hit-n-run people. But this book provides various algorithms, design methods, and illustrations in terms of both of 2-D signal and image processing. Chapters for filter design are good examples. Unlike most image processing books, it gives comparative illustrations and reference regarding many combinations of FIR, IIR, separable, non-separable, and zero-phase filtering as well as their basic implementation methods. This book is NOT for undergrads or DSP begineers. For those who need more theoritcal backgrounds in 2-D signal and image processing to solve given problems, I surely believe this book quenches the quriosities.
