## Abstract A simple and robust system is presented to generate electrically wavelength‐tunable optical short pulses from a gain‐switched Fabry–Perot laser diode. The laser external cavity consists of a tunable filter and an erbium‐doped fiber amplifier, which provides wavelength selectivity and in
