Immediately after graduation in 1947, he joined Kyoto University as a research Professor Hatano is the author and coauthor of close to 300 publications on chromatography, spectroscopy, radiation chemistry, and analytical instrumentation, and the application of these techniques to the investigation of proteins, enzymes, nucleotides, and nucleic acids. He is also the author of 15 books on liquid chromatography, automated amino acid analysis, and radiation chemistry.
