β¦ Synopsis
Trust Your Struggle is a novel that is intended to enlighten, empower, and inspire people who have been either directly or indirectly impacted by the criminal justice system. This is a story that explains how a child is able to survive the adult correctional system while overcoming her childhood traumas. The characters in the book are closely based on the true story and life of Carissa and she does a wonderful job of capturing most of the elements, personalities, and attitudes of each character accurately. The story is written in a way to entice the reader to turn another page. It bounces smoothly back and forth from Carissa's prison experience to her childhood experiences and, in the end, she is able to paint a vivid picture for the reader to see clearly and better understand how a rising star student-athlete, who had everything seemingly in the palm of her hands, could commit such a heinous act like attempted murder. Trust Your Struggle is a read that will have you hooked...
