The title compound (systematic name: 5-acetoxy-2-hydroxy-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one), C~9~H~8~O~4~, contains intra- and intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds, resulting in centrosymmetric dimers. The acetoxy group makes an angle of 59.86 (5)° with the seven-membered tropolone ring system. The cryst
