Ultrafast energy-transfer processes in allophycocyanin (APC) trimers from Mastigocladus laminosus have been examined by a femtosecond absorption technique. Isotropic absorption recovery kinetics with r= 440 + 30 fs were observed in APC trimers at 615 nm. In APC monomers such a fast process was not o

β¦ Synopsis
Flash photolysis techniques were applied to obtain the rate constant &T and the equ~brium constant KET for isoenergetic triplet energy transfer between aromatic ketone chromophores. Mixtures of benzophenone-4K02CH3 and benzophenone4COz(CH2)I&H3 gave KET = 0.95 + 0.1 and mixtures of u-and p-methylbenzophenones gave kgT c = 2.0 X lo8 M-l s-l, with Ea = 0.89 f 0.07 k&/mole.
