โœฆ Synopsis

The zirconium(W) derivatives ZrX4*2NMe3 (X = Cl, Br and I) have been obtained from direct reaction of the appropriate metal halide with an excess of trimethylamine. Structural evidence for a monomeric formulation is provided specifically for the chloride and bromide complexes. Spectral evidence for a six co-ordinate cis-ZrC14*2NMe3, cis-ZrBr4*2NMe3 and tram-ZrI,*2NMe3 arrangement of ligands within the series is presented and discussed.
