Sunmary: The products of bromination of triethylamine have been reinvestigated and shown to be N,N-diethyl di-and tribromoacetamides. The rotational barrier for the dibromoamide was measured, Ea = 40 kJ mol -1 a'nd found to be considerably lower than that of N,N-diethylacetamide.

The vibrntional apcctrum of triethylaminc was investigated which reveals the presence of at least two rotational isomers. Those isomers arc prcsont in botb tho liquid and solid states. The TGG' configuration is tho more stable configuration in vapour phase.
