Abstract
The zwitterionic 1β:β1 intermediates generated by addition of Nβheterocycles to activated acetylenes are trapped by trichloroacetonitrile to afford 1,2β or 1,4βdisubstituted Nβheterocycles in moderate to good yields under mild reaction conditions.
