✦ Synopsis
In the title neutral mononuclear complex, [Cd(H 2 ID-C) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ]ÁH 2 O (H 2 IDC is the 4-carboxy-1H-imidazole-5carboxylate anion, C 5 H 3 N 2 O 4 ), the Cd II atom is transcoordinated by two H 2 IDC ligands and three aqua molecules, displaying a distorted trigonal-bipyrimidal geometry. Interestingly, H 2 IDC coordinates in an N-monodentate fashion to the central Cd II atom, which is unprecedented. A threedimensional supramolecular network is generated through N-HÁ Á ÁO and O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds.
