## Abstract This paper presents a comprehensive consideration of the annual pattern of monthly discharge, precipitation, and water balance in the Kupa river basin (Yugoslavia). For this purpose principal component analysis (PCA) was applied. The monthly discharge values for 25 streamflow measuremen
