โฆ Synopsis
The treatment of steel construction parts with chloric acid in hot dip galvanizing workshops leads to huge amounts of spent zinc containing pickling solutions every year. Due to their specific composition these liquors cannot be used, treated or recycled in other industries. EC-funded basic investigations are carried out to examine existing and new treatment processes and to evaluate economic aspects. Preliminary results indicate that a solvent extraction route has to be preferred to an electrolytic process.
