Abstract
Immediately following a doubleβtoe transfer to her hand, a 40βyearβold woman developed a severe migraine headache unrelieved by narcotics. Medical consultation was obtained, and available medical treatments were discussed in relation to their possible effects on the patient's recent microvascular procedure. Intravenous steroids were administered, with resolution of the headache. This case illustrates an approach to the management of medical problems in which treatment options are weighed against their possible microsurgical effects.
