Trazodone Overdose
Two case reports of overdose with the triazolopyridine antidepressant, trazodone (Desyrelยฎ), are reported. Both ingestions were documented with trazodone serum concentration determinations. Major complaints of both patients were drowsiness and nausea. The cardiotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and respiratory depression commonly encountered during tricyclic antidepressant overdoses did not occur. The comparative toxicity of trazodone and tricyclics is discussed in terms of the pharmacologic profiles of these drugs.
