β¦ Synopsis
The Flu¨gge type basic equations for an infinitely long thin cylindrical shell, including the effect of initial tensions due to non-uniform internal pressure, are employed, and by using the complex WKB method the solution of the basic equations is constructed in the form of superposition of the packets of short bending, longitudinal and torsional waves. The dependence of frequencies, group velocities, amplitudes and other dynamic characteristics upon variable pressure is examined.

The initial-boundary-value problem for the equations describing motion of a thin, medium-length, non-circular cylindrical shell is examined. The shell edges are not necessarily plane curves, with the conditions of a joint support, a rigid clamp or a free edge being considered as the boundary conditi
