β¦ Synopsis
The present study deals with the analysis of the structural system depicted in Figure 1 when executing transverse vibrations. The fundamental frequency is determined by means of a well-known "nite element code [1].
No claim of originality is made but it is felt that the results may be of interest to designers in several "elds of engineering in highly specialized applications. The isotropic case is considered but for the sake of generality, a particular case of an orthotropic material is also analyzed.
The case of a vibrating solid circular plate with a secant support has already been treated and numerical and analytical results have been obtained [2,3].
