โฆ Synopsis
The temporal and spatial re~ectance of phase conjugate mirrors based on stimulated Brillouin scattering "SBS# was investigated both theoretically and experimentally[ A novel numerical model was used that incorporates the transverse mode structure of the pump beam and the re~ected beam into the di}erential equations describing the scattering process[ The experiments were performed with a Q!switched Nd]YAG laser in fundamental mode operation and SF 5 at 10 bar as the SBS medium[ The excellent agreement with the theoretical results indicates that the inclusion of the transverse intensity distribution is necessary for a realistic description of SBS[ ร 0888 Elsevier Science Ltd[ All rights reserved[

## Abstract A single wavelength ring Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is demonstrated using a piece of Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) as a gain medium. The BFL has a peak power of more than 0 dBm, a side mode suppression ratio of more than 26 dB and a BP threshold power of approximately 9.4 dBm with 100โm
