✦ Synopsis

We have investigated electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power of a moderately heavy fermion compound CeRu 2, and its alloys (Cel x Rx)RU 2 (0 ~< x ~< 1; R = La, Nd) in the temperature range between 2 and 300 K. The effect of substitution for both pseudobinary alloys gives the striking similarity on the thermoelectric power except for the lowest temperature properties. With increasing R concentration for x ~< 0.25, a pronounced positive peak at 80 K with the value of 5.5 ~,V/K for pure CeRu: on the thermoelectric power is shifted towards the higher temperatures. This tendency is roughly in accordance with the shift of the starting temperature of the marked saturation on the electrical resistivity, and seems to be correlated with the decrease in the T2-coefficient in the low temperature range.

We have investigated the transport and magnetic properties of RPt 2 In 2 (R ¼ La, Ce, Pr, Nd, and Gd) compounds by means of the AC electrical resistivity r and DC magnetic susceptibility w measurements. Both r(T) and w(T) data indicate that LaPt 2 In 2 and PrPt 2 In 2 are non-magnetic above 2 K. The
