โœฆ Synopsis

O n e h u n d r e d thirty-eight patients with transplant renal artery stenosis ( T R A S ) were identified a m o n g 1200 patients undergoing renal t r a n s p l a n t a t i o n in our university hospital. Severe systemic h y p e r t e n s i o n was the main s y m p t o m leading to a diagnosis of T R A S . Only 88 T R A S patients were given interventional t r e a t m e n t consisting of p e r c u t a n e o u s angioplasty (PTA; n --4 9 ) or surgical r e p a i r (SR; n = 39). The i m m e d i a t e success rate was 92.1% for S R and 69% for PTA. T h e l o n g -t e r m success rate was 81.5% for S R and 40.8% for PTA, with a follow-up p e r i o d of 56.7 +22.4 m o n t h s (SR group) and 32 _+ 28.1 m o n t h s ( P T A group). P T A m o r b i d i t y r e a c h e d 28%, c o m p a r e d to 7.6% in the S R group. In spite of these results, we still favor P T A as a first
