Abstract
A new type of closed elliptic‐groove guide is developed. Its characteristic equation and transmission characteristics for the dominant mode have been analyzed using the mode‐matching method and discussed. The obtained results show that this new type of closed elliptic‐groove guide has low loss, low dispersion, and high‐power handling, and it can be suitably used as the single‐mode transmission in short millimeter and submillimeter waves. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
