The chemism of the transmethylation of neutral and/or polar glycerides, carried out using methanolic NaBH 4 in the presence of 2N NaOH added, is discussed. One millilitre of the reagent proposed here enables quantitative transmethylation of 2 mg of neutral lipid and up to 300 mg of polar lipid. The
