✦ Synopsis


Redox reactions in the initial products formed from K~2~[Cr(CO)~5~] and Cl~2~ER (E = Al, Ga; R = Cl, alkyl) lead to the formation of aluminum(I) and gallium(I) transition metal complexes of type 1 (shown below) that are surprisingly stable. Stoichiometric CrGa films were prepared from 1 (E = Ga, R = CH~2~CH~3~) by MOCVD. tmeda = N,N,Nβ€²,Nβ€²,‐tetramethylethylenediamine.
