✦ Synopsis

AbstractA criterion is proposed for distinguishing between homogeneous and heterogeneous fluidization. It depends in particular on the Reynolds regime of fluid flow relative to the particles. As wel1 as depending on the physical properties of the system the structure of the determining equation changes with the flow regime.
