โฆ Synopsis
Wde-band detection foflowtng pulsed laser eWtatlon of the decacyclene anion has yielded transient electron pa~~~agnetic reson~~~ce srgn& wluch we assign to an elcrted quartet state. The sput-spin coupling constant D and Ehe pat2 of intersystem crossmg from doublet to quartet have been determmed.
Very few doublet ground-state molecules exhibit long-hved quartet-doublet
Iuminescence analogous to the triplet-smglet phosphorescence of singlet groundstate molecules. The tiference has been ascriied to the fact that the relative posltion of doublet and quartet states is usually unfavorable for population of quartets
