✦ Synopsis
On the basis of the derived formulae1 a scheme is suggested for the calculation of the zone propagation velocity in various superconductors. Comparison with different experiments shows good agreement and proves applicability of the scheme suggested.
Zone propagation in insulated superconductors has been analysed. Insulations are classified according to different descriptions of transient heat flux from the superconductor surface.
The peculiarities of zone propagation in enclosed systems (superconductor in an infinite volume insulation) are considered. Thermal diffusion in such a system leads to a decrease in the propagation velocity. The Stekly parameter in the calculations of enclosed systems must be replaced by the introduced parameter % A formula for the propagation velocity in enclosed systems is derived and criteria of one -dimensional propagation are given.
