✦ Synopsis
France Reccibed 7 &lay 1979 The transient light absorption changes at 400400 nm observed foIlowin~ photodlssociation of hum;ln adulr cabox)'hemogtobin in aqueous solution (pH 7.0) by pulsed hser irradiation (7 ns fwhm. h = 529 nm) reveal that geminate recombination is occurring durin g -100 ns after the dissociation. They also show that the spectrum of the pbotodeIigsted hemoglobin initially is sIig,htly different from that of stable deoxyhemoglobin but de;eiops into the Iatter in =5 ps. The recombination kinetics v3ry with the ewitation conditions (duration, intensity).
