✦ Synopsis
Absiraet-Closed-form, mathematical solutions sre presented for the problems of transient, multi-dimensional diffusion in spheres, short cylinders and rectanguhw prisms suddenly immersed in moderately-stirred fluids of limited volume. The results allow for the effects of first-order chemical reaction within the soiii bodies, and are extended to include arbitrary source and sink terms in both phases. Potential applications of the results include the descriptions of calorimetry experiments, packed bed reactor performance, quenching operations, and processing of canned foodstuffs.
