✦ Synopsis

The marked capability for transglycosylation by the endo-(1 +3)-D-D-glucanase L-IV from Spisula sachalinensis to glycerol, D-glucose, methyl a-and p-o-glucopyranoside, and methyl cellobioside as acceptors was employed to study the multiple attack of the enzyme on laminarin. The enzyme hydrolyses, on average, * 4 glycosidic bonds during enzyme-substrate interaction. The relative transfer constants for each acceptor have been calculated.
