The transitional model from carbon nanotube to diamond has been established. The transition has Lsen accomplished from carbon nanotube to carbon onion and then to diamond through laser irradiation. The transition from tube to onion under laser irradiation experiences the process of structure collaps

Abstract
With admixture of nโdiamond and diamondโlike carbon powders (DLC) as carbon source, transparent wafers have been synthesized by hydrothermal process at 100 ยฐC and atmosphere pressure. Scanning electron microscopy, Xโray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electronโprobe microanalysis andFourierโtransform infrared spectrometer were used to analyze those transparent wafers. These results indicated that the transparent wafers were amorphous sp^3^โbanding carbon wafer, and that the wafers were not aggregate of DLC from the carbon source but a new kind of reaction product by hydrothermal treatment.
