The time-domain theory of the excitation proÐles of resonance Raman scattering as well as CARS and CSRS of multimode systems is presented. In the time representation, the transform laws between absorption and scattering amplitudes are simpler than in the frequency representation. In particular, the

✦ Synopsis
The transform relationships for the calculation of the excitation spectra of the spontaneous and coherent Raman scattering (REPs and CEPs, respectively) have been derived which relate the REPs and CEPs to the (measured) absorption spectrum. The case of degenerate excited electronic state coupled to totally and non-totally symmetric vibrations is examined. With linear vibronic coupling, the transform relationships derived earlier for the non-degenerate electronic state hold for totally symmetric and diagonal non-totally symmetric Raman modes. For an off-diagonal non-totally symmetric mode, a different transform law exists, which depends on the coupling with diagonal modes.
