✦ Synopsis

The title complex, [PtBr 2 (CH 3 ) 2 (C 10 H 20 N 2 O 4 )], has a slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry as reflected in the bond lengths and angles around the Pt IV atom. A crystallographic C 2 rotation axis bisects the C-C bond of the central ethylene group and passes through the Pt atom.
