✦ Synopsis

Using the exact Wallraven calculation for the energy of a vortex ring coaxial with a thin orifice, I have calculated the exact low-temperature trajectories with background flow through the orifice and approximate trajectories when the temperature is finite and mutual friction is important. Closed-form approximations are given for the maximum ring expansion, ring lifetime, and range.
