โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Management of head and neck cancer truly represents the need for a multimodality approach. This manuscript discusses the history of head and neck surgery, head and neck fellowships and the current trends in the practice of head and neck surgery and oncology. Increasing emphasis is placed on organ preservation and nonโ€operative treatment modalities. The head and neck surgeon (leader of the orchestra) must be familiar with appropriate indications of each treatment modality and outcome. The head and neck surgeon of today should be an allโ€rounder. J. Surg. Oncol. 2008;97:717โ€“720. ยฉ 2008 Wileyโ€Liss, Inc.
