In North Wales, Cruziana semplicata (Salter) is recorded from three otherwise unfossiliferous localities and Teichichnus sp. (Seilacher) and Phycodes circinatum (Richter) are shown to be widely distributed within the lower Arenig (Didymograprus extensus zone) sediments. P. circinaturn is also recorded from the otherwise unfossiliferous Upper Pennant Quartzite. From a discussion of the stratigraphic ranges of these trace fossils it is suggested that the rocks of the C. semplicara bearing localites are Upper Cambrian (Ffestiniog) in age while the Upper Pennant Quartzite is Ordovician, probably Arenig. On a enregistre Cruziana semplirutu (Salter) au nord du Pays de Galles, en trois localites sans autres fossiles et on a montre que les Teichichnus sp. (Seilacher) et Phycodes circinarttm (Richter) sont largement distribues a I'intCrieur des sediments de I'Arenig inferieur (zone de Didymogruptus externus). On a enrCgistrC aussi P. circinufunr dans I'Upper Pennant Quartzite denue de autres fossiles. A partir d'une discussion des Ctendues stratigraphiques de ces traces fossiles, il est suggerk que les roches des localit6s contenant C. semiplicata appartiennent au Cambrien supdrieur (Ffestiniog) tandis que I'upper Pennant Quartzite est Ordovicien, probablement Arenig. Es wird berichtet, daB an drei sonst nicht fossilfiihrenden Orten in Nord-Wales Cruzianu semplicoto (Salter) gefunden worden ist und es wird gezeigt, daB Teichichuc sp. (Seilacher) und Phycodes circinatum (Richter) in den unteren Arenig-Sedimenten (Didymograptus extensus Zone) weit verbreitet ist. P. circinafurn wurde auch in den sonst nicht fossilfuhrenden, haheren Pennant-Quarziten gefunden. Aus der Diskusion der stratigraphischen Verbreitung dieser Leitfossilien I b s t sich schliessen, dass die Gesteine von C. senrplicata tragenden Orten aus dem hoherern Kambrium (Ffestiniog) stammen, wahrend die hoheren Pennant-Quarzite aus der Ordovic-, wahrscheinlich Arenig-Epoche stammen.
