✦ Synopsis

His argument was that this technology permits academics to transport student data with them and can, therefore, be more efficient when information is requested.

In total, approximately forty papers were presented by academics from a wide range of countries. These have been published in the eponymous proceedings (ISBN 953-6025043) which runs to 516 closely typed pages. All sessions were held at the University of Zagreb's Graduate School although the opening reception was located in the Art Deco ambience of the Hotel Esplanade's Emerald Ballroom, a reminder of the days when it provided facilities for the passengers of the original Orient Express. However, the modern Sheraton hosted the gala dinner on the night of 19th April at which local traditionally dressed Croats provided excellent entertainment. The atmosphere and culture of Mitteleuropa provided an excellent backdrop to this smoothly run conference which provoked many thoughts on the re-thinking of education and training for tourism.
