โœฆ Synopsis


The problem considered here is that of torsional oscillations of an annular disk, on an elastic cylinder bonded to an elastic half-space whose modulus of rigidity differs from that of the cylinder. It is assumed that the bonding at the common cylindricai surface between the cylinder and the half-space is perfect and that the annular disk is rigid and bonded at the plane face of the cylinder, The solution of the problem is reduced to triple integral equations. Finally, solution of the triple integral equations is reduced to the solution of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. By finding a numerical solution of the Fredholm integral equation the numerical values of the torque required to rotate the annular disk through a fixed angle are obtained.
