The axisymmetric torsion problem of the boundary-free cylinder with external notch is considered. The method of dual equations is used to reduce the problem to a regular Fredholm integral equation of the second kind with a symmetric kernel. Numerical results worked out for the stress intensity factor are adduced. * In the case of a cylinder of radius R the quantities below should be multiplied conformably: the displacement -by R, the torque -by R 3, etc., the value of the stress does not vary.
