✦ Synopsis

A relation between the torque and the primary leakage reactance of the Schrage commutator motor is pointed out and it has been shown that an increase in this primary reactance results in an extension of the supersynchronous zone with no significant effect on the subsynchronous region.

Assuming a linear relation between the slip and the brush separation the expression for the torque has been maximized. Quadratic equations in the variable "slip" have been obtained and the physical significante of the optimum roots has been discussed in detail.
