We investigate the relationships between topological and Borel G-spaces, where G is a Polish group. We show that every Polish G-space can be topologically and equivariantly embedded into a compact Polish G-space iff G is locally compact. This answers a question of Kechris. It also provides a strikin

The paper presents some recent results on the topics in its title, in the context of an ongoing pursuit of a deeper understanding of how algebraic and topological conditions in the theory of topological groups inter-relate.

We show that a known restriction on the cardinalities of closures of subspaces of scattered spaces, 1 A 1 S 2'\*', cannot be improved to 1 A 1 s 1 A I", f or any A. We then find a wide class of T.34. scattered spaces which have no scattered compactification: the:{: spaces are derived from regular fi
