β¦ Synopsis
The study of natural primate behavior has abandoned certain topics of behavioral research in its founding years and gained others on its way. Not all of these changes of orientation seem reasonable to me, but then the history of a discipline is less rational than its individual research projects. Our field might become more evenly cultivated if its adherents were less inclined to follow bandwagons and to retain to the methods of their original discipline.
