✦ Synopsis
During the Dl-mission the experiment "TO-MEX" was successfully performed. Three payload specialists measured the intraocular pressure for the first time in space with the hand-applanation tonometer according to Prof. Draeger. First measurements, 1 h after launch, revealed a mean pressure rise of 20 to 25%. We assume that even these early measurements are already masked by adaptation processes. We might have missed the absolute peak values which we expected immediately after reaching micro-g conditions. Following measurements during the first two mission days should give information about an alteration of the normal diurnal rhythm observed on earth.
